Years Ago Pete Seeger said (something like this) if you bring people to the Hudson River they’ll see the beauty and they’ll get involved. So, he built the Clearwater and started getting people out on the river on a sailboat. Brilliant.
Thanks to Pete and all the thousands of people who are part of cleaning up this historic river, I can swim in it now. I kayak in it. There’s still work to be done and lots of people are doing it. There’s always room for one more person – http://www.clearwater.org, http://www.riverkeeper.org, http://www.scenichudson.org for those of you who live in the Hudson Valley.
Pete’s my hero because he got people involved in seeing what is possible. Like Margaret Mead said….”A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
There is so much beauty in the world, why waste one drop of it?
