It’s so exciting to me that fall is right around the corner, to wake up to crisp mornings that are on the precipice of being too cold to leave the windows open.
I know I’m not the only one who loves fall, who perhaps finds themselves in an almost romantic relationship with it. Especially as the weather cools, the leaves change, and I can spend my mornings bundled up under my warm down blanket with my hands hugging a mug of hot coffee; before it’s so cold that the prospect of getting out of bed is the most dreaded part of the day.
The stifling hot is finally gone – and I am so thankful for that. I know it wasn’t just NY who experienced a hotter summer than usual, it was actually the 5th hottest summer on record for the lowers 48 states. Not only that, but it was the hottest recorded August worldwide, according to NASA, and we can’t blame this one solely on El Niño,via Live Science:
That trend is what Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and other climate scientists emphasize. It is that excess heat that has accumulated over decades thanks to rising levels of greenhouse gases that accounts for the bulk of this year’s record warmth, with El Niño providing only a small boost.
I know in a way I’m preaching to the choir – but it’s more important than ever that we all do our part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Let’s preserve this magical time of year.
Don’t forget your reusable tote bags. Pack your lunch. Bring your canteen to the gym.
And don’t forget to inspire your friends – you have more impact than you know.
